The Present Moment Project

MagicLakeL2

THERE IS a strong thread of compassion that runs through the culture of health care.

All of us enjoy genuine, caring connections with those around us. We would all rather be compassionate given a situation where our own wellbeing is not threatened by it. It feels profoundly good and we know that it enhances our usefulness.

It is almost inevitable, though, that at times our experience of compassion becomes obscured by the pressures of clinical life.

THE PRESENT MOMENT PROJECT offers meditation-based methods that:

  • Help the people of our professions to discover how their happiness and effectiveness is damaged by lack of compassion and repaired by the experience and resulting activity of compassion.
  • Provide tools to foster our own experience of compassion:
    • Presence practices to relax and awaken awareness
    • Core confidence practices to take our place fully in the moment
    • Compassion practices to foster the gentleness and strength needed open to others’ experience in a sane way.
  • Help the people of our professions to experience that practical, intelligent problem solving is enhanced by, not obstructed by, compassion.

WE SEE THIS as a simple, practical approach to healthcare, and a sound business and clinical strategy.
